The Norfolk location recently won the KNB (Keep Nebraska Beautiful) Award for the second year in a row. Alter received this award for their participation in the 2006 Norfolk Scrap Day. Teammates at Nucor, Vulcraft and Alter Metal Recycling put in more than 250 man hours and collected over 12,000 lbs of cans, 37 tons of steel, 163 refrigerators, 25 microwaves, and 32 air conditioners. In addition, Waste Services collected 15.8 tons of electronics/computer equipment. Norfolk is committed to supporting events throughout the area and within the state (i.e., Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, school sponsorships, fundraisers, The Nebraska Special Olympics).

Alter Metal Recycling is a Midwest, family owned company that has been doing business since 1898 and that has been proudly serving the Norfolk, Nebraska area's recycling needs for over 75 years.
